U-Turn-Back Reteach

You individuell turns around in place, turning toward partner unless the body flow dictates otherwise. If alone, you turns toward the center of the set. In One Couple Choreo we often does not have a center of a set. So your turning direction may be in either direction unless the Caller gives you a direction 😉

When is this important? First it is important for your own dancing pleasure, because the caller tries to offer you choreo with good and fluid Body Flow. And second, if the Caller calls a U-Turn-Back 1+1/2. The direction of the 1/2 U-Turn-Back depends on the turning direction of the first U-Turn-Back.

Examples:

Starting as a Couple, facing the home wall

Forward — (there is no body flow, so turning is toward partner ) U-Turn-Back — Forward — (same again, turning is toward your partner) U-Turn-Back — Home

Lead Right — (for both the body flow is to the right, so the turning direction for a U-Turn Back for both dancers is also to the right) U-Turn-Back — Lead Left — U-Turn-Back (did you turn back over your left shoulder? Good!) — Home

Forward — U-Turn-Back 1+1/2 (You’re standing back to back now. The direction of the 1/2 U-Turn-Back follows the body flow of the first U-Turn-Back and this is away from each other.) — step forward — Boys Left Girls Right Cloverleaf — Home

Lead Right — U-Turn-Back 1+1/2 (You’re standing behind each other as a tandem facing the home wall. Both a turning right at the first U-Turn-Back and so is the 1/2 U-Turn-Back also to the right) — Forward and Back — To the Left Cloverleaf — Face Left — Wheel Around — step Forward — U-Turn-Back — Home

Thank you!
